Under the hood
Here's the technology and design philosophy behind FindMePic.
Powered by AWS Rekognition, one of the most accurate facial recognition engines available. It detects faces in crowds, groups, low light, and partial profiles — then creates a mathematical vector (not an image) for each face. Matching happens by comparing vectors, not pixels.
Selfies are processed in real-time and immediately discarded — they never touch a database. Email addresses are SHA-256 hashed before storage. Face vectors are mathematical representations, not biometric images. All infrastructure runs in EU-west-1 (Ireland).
Attendees can delete their data at any time via the privacy page. Organizers control their event data from the dashboard. We don't hold your data hostage — you own it, you delete it.
Photos are processed in parallel via a job queue (powered by Inngest). Whether you upload 50 or 50,000 photos, the system scales. Face indexing happens in the background so you don't wait.
When an attendee takes a selfie, we compare their face vector against all indexed faces in under 3 seconds. Results come back ranked by confidence score — no waiting, no polling.
All photo URLs are time-limited presigned URLs — they expire after a set period. API access uses key-based authentication with rate limiting. No data leaves the EU.
